FAQ AboutEgyptian Mandarins
Frequently Asked Questions — Egyptian Mandarins
We harvest only sound fruit and apply destination-approved post-harvest coatings. Produce is rapidly pre-cooled to 4–7°C before loading and maintained at 90–95% humidity with excellent airflow throughout the voyage.
This protocol aggressively minimises Penicillium and sour rot risks — the two main decay causes for citrus on long sea routes. Our 2025 decay rate on Murcott programs to Russia and Northern Europe was below 1.5%.
Can you segregate seedless Murcott lots for premium retail programs?
Yes. We manage variety-pure farm blocks. Each pallet carries strict block codes, and routine sampling for seed counts and Brix levels ensures you receive fully seedless, high-sugar programs meeting premium retail specifications.
Seedless lot availability is confirmed during the pre-season booking process — contact our team to reserve your allocation.
What is the difference between Fremont and Murcott mandarins?
Fremont is an early-season variety (December) with a bright orange skin, strong flavour, and excellent external appearance. It typically carries some seeds and is ideal for conventional supermarket programs.
Honey Murcott (W. Murcott) is a mid-to-late season variety (January–March), characterised by exceptional sweetness (12%+ Brix), thin skin, and seedless flesh when managed in variety-pure blocks. It commands a premium in European retail.
When is the Egyptian mandarin export season?
The Egyptian mandarin season runs from November through April: Fremont peaks in December, Murcott peaks January to March.
This window directly fills European and Russian demand when Spanish mandarin production declines from January onwards — making Egyptian easy-peelers a critical winter supply source.
