VALENCIA ORANGES
Egyptian Valencia oranges export for juice production and fresh markets

The Egyptian Valencia Season: February to June

Valencia oranges are Egypt’s longest-running and most robust citrus export. As the winter citrus season ends in Europe, the Egyptian Valencia season reaches its peak. Because of their naturally robust rind and excellent keeping qualities, our Valencias offer exceptional shelf life — providing a reliable bridge of fresh citrus deep into the European spring and early summer.

For juice processors, the February–May window is the most critical supply period of the year. Il Mondo’s fixed weekly loading schedules from Alexandria ensure your production lines never stop — whether you need retail-grade Class I cartons or high-yield Class II industrial bins.

Frequently Asked Questions AboutEgyptian Valencia Oranges

Can you supply Valencia oranges specifically for industrial juicing?

Yes. Il Mondo offers specialised sorting for the juice industry — Class II Valencia oranges prioritise internal juice yield and Brix/acid levels over external skin aesthetics.
Class II fruit is packed in cost-effective 500kg industrial bins or standard 15kg cartons, depending on your processing facility requirements. Contact our team to discuss volume and delivery specifications.

What is the typical juice yield of Il Mondo Valencia oranges?

Il Mondo export-grade Valencias guarantee a minimum juice content of 45%, frequently exceeding 50% during peak harvest months in March and April.
Egyptian Valencia oranges are globally renowned for their juiciness due to the climate conditions during the February–May growing window. Juice content is tested on every production run at our BRC Grade AA facility.

How do you manage traceability for bulk Valencia citrus orders?

Every carton and industrial bin leaving our BRC-certified facility carries a batch code linked to our GlobalG.A.P GGN system. This provides full traceability back to the specific GPS coordinates of the farm plot where the oranges were harvested.
Buyers can verify farm certification status directly on the GlobalG.A.P public registry using the GGN number provided on the packing documentation.

What is the difference between Class I and Class II Valencia oranges?

Class I Valencia oranges meet the full EU retail cosmetic standard — uniform colour, smooth skin, no blemishes. Intended for supermarket shelves and retail net or carton packaging.
Class II Valencia oranges may have minor cosmetic imperfections (slight discolouration, skin marks) but retain identical or superior juice content and Brix levels. Class II is the preferred grade for juice processors where internal quality is the only consideration. Class II is typically priced more competitively than Class I.

When is the Egyptian Valencia orange export season?

The Egyptian Valencia orange export season runs from February to the end of May, occasionally extending into June depending on the harvest.
This season directly follows the Navel orange window — allowing importers who work with Il Mondo to maintain continuous Egyptian citrus supply from November through to June, covering both winter (Navel) and spring/summer (Valencia) demand periods.

What packaging is available for Valencia oranges?

Valencia oranges are available in three formats: 15kg telescopic cartons (standard retail and export), 8kg open-top cartons, and 500kg bulk industrial bins for juice processors.
Custom retail packaging including branded nets (1kg, 2kg, 3kg), flow-pack, and private label cartons is available through our Contract Farming program with agreed minimum volumes.

Can Il Mondo supply both Navel and Valencia oranges in the same season?

Yes — and this is one of Il Mondo's key advantages for importers building a year-round Egyptian citrus program.
The Navel season (November–March) and Valencia season (February–June) overlap by approximately 4–6 weeks in February and March, allowing buyers to transition seamlessly between varieties. Il Mondo clients who run both programs benefit from a single point of contact, consistent documentation standards, and continuous supply from November through June.
