What makes Egyptian cantaloupe different from other origins?

Egyptian cantaloupe benefits from the Nile Delta's optimal growing conditions: warm temperatures, sandy soils, and abundant sunshine produce melons with excellent sugar development and aromatic flavor. Combined with GlobalG.A.P certified farms and proper cold chain management, Egyptian cantaloupe offers European retailers reliability and eating quality.

What sizes are available for export?

Individual fruit sizes range from 1.0kg to 1.5kg depending on variety and growing conditions. Standard export cartons contain 4, 5, 6, or 8 count per carton, with 5-6 count preferred for retail display and 4 count for premium positioning.

How should Egyptian cantaloupe be stored?

Cantaloupe requires storage at 5–8°C with 85–90% humidity. Temperatures below 5°C cause chilling injury resulting in pitting, uneven ripening, and reduced flavor. Pre-cooling within 4 hours of harvest and GPS-monitored reefers ensure proper temperature compliance throughout transit.

What is the shelf life of Egyptian cantaloupe?

With proper cold chain management at 5–8°C, Egyptian cantaloupe maintains 14–21 days of remaining shelf life upon European arrival. Shelf life varies by ripeness at harvest; less ripe fruit travel better but require retailer ripening at 15–20°C for 2–4 days before display.

Can Egyptian cantaloupe be shipped with other products?

Cantaloupe is sensitive to ethylene gas produced by apples, bananas, and stone fruit. Mixed loads with ethylene-producing items should be avoided. Cantaloupe can be co-loaded with other products tolerant of 5–8°C storage, such as grapes, citrus, and cucumbers.

What documentation is provided with each shipment?

Full documentation includes: Phytosanitary Certificate, Certificate of Origin, EUR.1 (preferential tariffs), Bill of Lading, Packing List, Commercial Invoice, Pre-shipment quality inspection report, and GlobalG.A.P GGN certificate with batch traceability.
